Working in watercolors

Join your fellow artists in volunteering to share your creative, innovative talents with eager, young aspiring artists!  Artists in all genre are signing up now to teach at our Summer Arts Camp, June 18-22, 2018.  The full-day, weeklong camp will be held at Romney Elementary School, 45 School Street, Romney WV, for children entering 3rd grade in the fall through 2018 high school graduates.   Free breakfasts and lunches are included for campers.

Whatever your artistic bent, whether it be in visual arts, drama, writing or any artistic field, we NEED YOU!  Past classes have included acrylic and watercolor painting, drawing, graphic arts, poetry, weaving and fiber arts, handbells, guitar, ukulele, glass arts, metal sculpting, drum circle, song and rap writing, pottery, music imagery, string instrument making, string art, dance, paper mache, collages, stories through song, Harry Potter and imagination, basket weaving, soap carving, Minecraft, yoga, airbrushing, jewelry making, photography, dance, beeswax candle-making, mixed-media and journaling, funky canvas art —the list goes on and on!

Our campers are all enthusiastic and anxious to enjoy tried and true arts as well as explore new fields.  For some it might be the first time to experience a new art and can be the catalyst for a budding career.

Volunteers are also needed to assist the artists in their classrooms.   If you don’t consider yourself an artist or just prefer not to be the lead instructor, consider volunteering a half-day or more to lend a hand assisting an instructor.  You will find the campers fun to work with, as well pick up some arts tips yourself.

Our objective is to expose our campers to artistic expression taught by a wide variety of experts whether it is in music, dance or the many types of visual arts.  The campers will have a special performance by Dr. Greg Latta, a multi-talented musician, singer and songwriter and an award winning performer.
New this year will be ukulele lessons which may inspire campers to continue playing in a ukulele band forming after the conclusion of camp.  We have grouped together week-long menus of classes to allow campers some flexibility in choices while providing all campers equal opportunity to broaden their experiences.
Most classes are 1- and 2-day sessions while some are 4-day sessions for team work on projects which may be presented along with other pieces of art for the enjoyment of families and friends at the open house on Friday afternoon beginning at 2 pm.
