Candy Ponchak's new art exhibit pays tribute to old time traditions when nothing was wasted and women used old torn clothing to make rugs. She works with 100% recycled wool from thrift store clothing which is taken apart, washed and dried to make it felted, then cut into strips of various widths. Then, using a small crochet type hook, Candy pulls the strips through backing material into small, tight loops, creating lovely new rugs and other textile arts.
