Hampshire County Arts Council Scholarship
The Hampshire County Arts Council (HCAC) is proud to continue the Arts Scholarship, designed to support and nurture aspiring artists within our community. Based in Romney, West Virginia, HCAC is committed to promoting artistic expression and fostering cultural enrichment in Hampshire County and beyond. As part of our dedication to the arts, we have created this scholarship to empower talented individuals in our county pursuing artistic endeavors.
Objective: The HCAC Scholarship provides financial assistance (up to $1000) to deserving individuals who demonstrate a passion for the arts and a commitment to furthering their artistic education. Whether in visual arts, performing arts, literary arts, or any other creative discipline, we seek to support students who exhibit exceptional talent and dedication to their craft.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Applicants must be residents of Hampshire County, West Virginia.
- Applicants must be pursuing skills, certification, or a degree in any artistic field, including but not limited to visual arts, performing arts, literary arts, music, dance, theater, film, photography, or creative writing.
- Applicants must demonstrate artistic talent and dedication through a portfolio of work, performances, or other relevant achievements.
- Financial need may be considered but is not the primary determining factor for selection.
Scholarship Details:
- The HCAC Scholarship will award a one-time monetary grant to selected recipients to be used toward tuition, fees for workshops or summer programs, art supplies, or other educational expenses.
- The scholarship amount and number of awards may vary depending on available funds and the quality of applications received.
- Recipients will be selected based on the strength of their artistic abilities, dedication to their craft, community involvement, and potential for future participation in the arts community of Hampshire County, WV.
Application Process:
- Interested candidates must submit a complete application form along with an example of their artistic work, and a personal statement outlining their artistic goals, influences, and aspirations. Letters of recommendation are not required but may be submitted for consideration.
- Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee comprised of HCAC members and local arts professionals.
- Shortlisted candidates may be invited for an interview to further assess their suitability for the scholarship.
Deadline:
- The deadline for submitting scholarship applications is May 21, 2024.
- Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.
