Performing Arts
Theatre, music, dance, storytelling and live performance bring people together in ways that no other art form can.
HCAC supports opportunities for performers, directors, musicians, makers and audiences to connect through community productions, concerts, readings, workshops and other live arts experiences in Hampshire County.
Community Theatre: HAMS
HAMPSHIRE ACTORS AND MAKERS OF SHOWS
Theatre Takes More Than Actors
HAMS — Hampshire Actors and Makers of Shows — was created to encourage community theatre opportunities in Hampshire County.
Community theatre needs people with many different interests and skills. You do not have to want to stand on a stage to be part of a production.
There are ways to participate in:
- Acting
- Directing
- Stage management
- Set building
- Props
- Costumes
- Lighting & sound
- Publicity & front-of-house
HCAC’s Theater Group (HAMS) is coordinated by Dale Brady. If you would like to act, help behind the scenes, suggest a production or simply be notified when a new theatre project begins, email
info@HampshireArts.org.
Interested in the Next Production?
There is not a current HAMS production listed on the HCAC calendar, but that does not mean you have to wait to get involved.
Let us know if you would like to participate in future theatre activities. Having a list of interested actors, directors, technicians and volunteers makes it much easier to get the next project started.
Live Music
Music is an important part of HCAC’s performing arts programming. Our intimate Tiny Studio Concerts bring audiences and musicians together in a close, welcoming setting.
The Fall 2026 Tiny Studio Concert series is scheduled for the last Sunday of September, October and November.
More Ways to Perform
Performing arts include much more than traditional theatre. HCAC welcomes ideas and opportunities involving:
- Drama & comedy
- Musical theatre
- Dance
- Storytelling
- Dramatic readings
- Puppetry
- Spoken word
- Traditional & folk performance

Have an Idea for a Performance?
Some of the best community arts projects begin with one person saying, “Wouldn’t it be fun if…?”
If you have an idea for a play, staged reading, storytelling event, dance program, workshop or other performing-arts activity, tell us about it at
info@HampshireArts.org.
