Let Your Watercolor Skills Bloom: 5-Part Series

Fee: $90 for the 5-class series. Scholarships are available.
This 5-part series is a wonderful opportunity for beginners or intermediate painters wanting to hone their watercolor techniques.Taught by Kristen Colebank, the series covers drawing basics, paint characteristics, wash applications, and color mixing while focusing on creative play and experimentation.
Sessions include getting to know your tools, drawing from the garden, learning how to see light and shadow, and simplifying complex elements to establish core visual growth. Students will provide all of their own supplies.
Drawing the Still Life workshop

Drawing is the fundamental basis of so many creative arts—especially painting in any medium—but it can feel intimidating! Spend an evening with seasoned instructor Chris Madden exploring simple, approachable steps to conquer line work and layout.
Participants will focus on composing a still life, balancing light or shadows, and successfully shifting that vision onto paper. Please bring charcoal and graphite pencils, vine charcoal, drawing paper (11×14 inches or larger preferred), a kneadable eraser, and a rigid drawing board.

Everything You Need or Want to Know About Artists’ Paint Brushes

An informative masterclass covering brush styles, standard brush strokes, application suitability for different paint media (watercolor, oil, acrylic), and proper tool preservation guidelines.
The Magic of Tie-Dyeing
Instructor: Michael Blake (June 7, 2026)
An immersive beginners’ workshop tracking the rich historical heritage of tie-dyeing, basic color blending chemistry, pattern folding configurations, and practical 100% cotton garment applications.
Celebrate America 250: Create an Antique for Future Generations
Instructor: Nancy Judd (June 6, 2026)
Participants celebrated America’s historic milestone by painting small wooden and metal heirloom pieces with traditional colonial designs, patterns, and commemorative script dating 1776–2026.
Plein Air Classes in May
Great fun was had at two plein air classes in May. One was at Marion Mich’s Wineberry Garden in Romney, and the other was at Chris Madden’s Rushing River Studio near Augusta.
At Marion’s, artists enjoyed the gardens and a beautiful opportunity to work outdoors.
At Chris’s, while it was a bit drippy outside to say the least, participants enjoyed working in his studio and learning about oil painting and more.
