The 2018 Spring Fine Arts Show, hosted by the Arts Council will be held in March at the Hampshire County Public library in Romney.  Entries in all art media are acceptable including two dimensional and three dimensional works.  Artists do not need to be members of the Arts Council to enter.

The show will be judged by Dot Procter from Bethesda, Maryland.  Her primary media is acrylic on canvas but she supplements this with the use of tempera, watercolor and occasionally oils. She also enjoys drawing with pencil, ink, charcoal, pastels and markers.  Rounding up her experience is the use of paper mache, wood, air-dry clay, fabric and recycled materials.  Dot has been honored with invitations to display her work in many art galleries as well as inclusion of her works in public art collections and private collections around the world.

The act of painitng outdoors or what the eye actually sees. Sound exciting? Artists have long painted outdoors, but in the mid-19th century, working in natural light became particularly important to the impressionists. The popularity of painting en plein air increased in the 1840s and has endured throughout the 20th century and into the 21st century. Two HCAC plein air events are in the works. Why not give it a try?
